YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!

Dear Member

Happy New Year to you all as we head into the second half of the season in third place in Division 1B. Our 1st XV finished 2021 with a stunning 42 – 42 draw against Malone, and we face Malone in the return game in Belfast this weekend.

Our boys have performed well so far. In third place we are currently the top points scorers by a margin of 26 points. With 6 bonus points we are joint-top with 4 bonus “try” points. This young team have put their heart and soul into their training and performances and it’s paying off.

Members, YOU have an important role to play. We have 5 away games and four home games in 2022 and your voice as the 16th man will be critical to where this young team will finish, and this young team needs your support in Malone this weekend.

Bus or cars?

With the Omicron variant it is hard to know what is best way to travel to Malone. It’s a 2.5 hour journey and people are being careful (rightly so) and we have had only one query for a bus to Malone which is not viable, we need at least twenty people.

At the same time, we know of many cars travelling and there may be a spare seat in your car. If so, and you are comfortable to offer a seat to a travelling supporter can you contact Marie Hammond (mhammond@smcrfc.com) and let her know how many can travel with you? Supporters, if you would like to travel to Malone and are looking for a lift can you also contact Marie to see what is available?

Be under no illusion, you are the most important 16th man and Your Team Needs You.

I look forward to hearing your support loud and clear in Malone. Keep well and safe journey.
