President's Christmas Message:

Dear Member,

What a year, how do we look back on 2020?

Many of us had a difficult year because of this ongoing pandemic. All of us had plans changed or cancelled. Many events, activities, holidays, matches and celebrations were restricted or cancelled. Better to look forward to 2021 and beyond. Before we do though, I would like to thank many people. Firstly, thanks to David Mowlds and all his Covid-19 Health & Safety committee who got us out and kept us safe training and playing when we could. Thank you to Alan Shirley, the Chairman of Rugby, his team and all the managers and coaches who operated in such difficult circumstances this year. They, too, were a huge part of the effort to enable us to play and train. To all our members, thank you for your observance of the restrictions. This has helped to keep each other safe and well.

Thank you also to everyone who has contributed to our Covid-19 Appeal, we sincerely appreciate it.

As we look to 2021, we can do so with optimism. Despite the recent announcement of more restrictions, there are vaccines on the way. We will play rugby in 2021. We will be able to watch matches in person, roar from the terrace and socialise.

We also have a new Strategic Roadmap that will improve all aspects of the club. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this so far. There is still time to share yoursuggestions to feedback@smcrfc.com by 31st Dec 2020. I look forward to engaging with everyone to deliver on the priorities that you identified in the Club Strategic Roadmap.

Let us UNITE and BUILD to WIN.

May I wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and best wishes for a peaceful and healthy 2021.

Yours in rugby,

Vinnie Cunningham
